The Philadelphia 76ers plan to pursue Kyle Lowry in the off-season via a possible sign-and-trade deal, according to The Atheltic’s Sam Amick.
Philadelphia was reportedly one of the teams that was heavily involved in discussions around the Toronto Raptors point guard in the lead-up to the 2021 trade deadline. The Raptors ultimately decided to hold on to Lowry, who will become a free agent after the 2020-21 campaign comes to a close.
According to Amick, the 76ers’ interest in Lowry “remains very strong” but they could have some competition for the Philadelphia native as Lowry’s market reportedly “should be quite robust.”
A six-time All-Star, Lowry has played in 44 games for the Raptors this season and is averaging 16.7 points and 7.3 assists per game.
The Raptors are currently in the midst of a three-way race for the No. 10 seed in the Eastern Conference – the final spot in the NBA’s new play-in tournament.
Toronto starts a gruelling four-game Western Conference road trip on Thursday against the Denver Nuggets.
