The Philadelphia 76ers are filling out their roster in wake of a slew of injury news.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the team signed former first-round pick Jalen Hood-Schifino to a two-way contract on Friday.
Selected 17th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2023 NBA draft, Hood-Schifino averaged 1.7 points, 0.6 rebounds, and 0.4 assists in 5.3 minutes during his first two seasons.
The six-foot-six guard appeared in only two games with the Lakers 2024-25 before being traded to the Utah Jazz as part of the Luka Doncic mega-blockbuster. He was waived by the Jazz five days later without appearing in a game.
Hood-Schifino, 21, could potentially see minutes in Philadelphia's backcourt with Eric Gordon set to be reevaluated in three months after undergoing wrist surgery and Kyle Lowry out with a hip injury. He would slot in on the depth chart behind Tyrese Maxey, Quinten Grimes, Jared Butler, Jeff Dowtin Jr., and Lonnie Walker IV.
Players on two-way contracts earn $580,272 and are able to freely move between an NBA team and their G League affiliate.
