The Chicago Bulls backcourt won't look the same for the foreseeable future.
Starting point guard Josh Giddey will miss at least a few weeks due to a left-hamstring strain, ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old suffered the injury in a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday, exiting the game after just under 18 minutes of action.
Giddey is in the midst of a breakout campaign, averaging career-bests across the board with 19.2 points, 8.9 rebounds and 9.0 assists (third in the NBA) on 46.6/38.6/76.1 per cent shooting splits.
The Aussie, taken sixth overall in 2021, has been making good on the Bulls' faith in him — not only trading for Giddey in 2024, but also re-signing him to a four-year, $100 million deal last off-season.
Meanwhile, Giddey's backcourt mate Coby White (right-calf tightness) is also dealing with an injury as both guards have already been ruled out for Wednesday's contest against the New Orleans Pelicans. White's injury also occurred on Monday against the Timberwolves.
Chicago will enter its New Year's Eve matchup with a 15-17 record, good for ninth in the Eastern Conference.
