Jay Triano wasn't out of work for long.
The Canadian coach is joining the Dallas Mavericks as an assistant on head coach Jason Kidd's staff, NBA insider Marc Stein reported on Thursday.
Also headed to the Dallas bench is longtime NBA head coach Frank Vogel.
Triano, 66, was fired as a Sacramento Kings assistant in May after three seasons.
He has coached in the NBA since joining the Toronto Raptors as an assistant in 2002, including two stints as head coach with the Raptors (2008-11) and Phoenix Suns (2017-18).
The Tillsonburg, Ont., native was also the head coach of Canada's men's national team from 1998 to 2004, leading the team to the 2000 Olympics.
Now, he'll join a team featuring No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg as well as Canadians Olivier-Maxence Prosper and Dwight Powell.
