One of the longest-tenured Canadian players in the NBA is set to continue his career overseas.
Forward Trey Lyles has signed a deal with EuroLeague and Liga ACB powerhouse Real Madrid, NBA insider Marc Stein reported on Thursday.
Lyles, 29, spent the last 10 years of his career in the NBA, suiting up for the Utah Jazz, Denver Nuggets, San Antonio Spurs, Detroit Pistons, and most recently, the Sacramento Kings.
He averaged 6.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists while shooting 42.0 per cent from the field and 34.0 per cent from three-point range in 69 games with Sacramento last season.
Over his NBA career, Lyles averaged 7.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists while shooting 44.1 per cent from the field and 34.7 per cent from deep.
A native of Saskatoon, Sask., Lyles has suited up in seven games for Team Canada at the senior level. In four outings at the Paris Olympics in 2024, he averaged 2.0 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.8 assists.
Lyles now joins the most successful basketball club in EuroLeague history, with Real Madrid having won 11 EuroLeague titles, their most recent being in the 2022-23 season.
Former NBA players Facundo Campazzo, Chuma Okeke, Mario Hezonja, Theo Maledon, and former Toronto Raptors centre Bruno Fernando are among those suiting up for Real Madrid in the 2025-26 season.
