Free-agent forward Carmelo Anthony is finalizing a one-year deal to re-sign with the Portland Trail Blazers, according to The Athletic‘s Shams Charania.
Almost shut out of the league entirely, Anthony found a team willing to take a shot on him this past season in the Trail Blazers, and it quickly became evident that the 36-year-old still had something to give, especially once he bought into the role he was being asked to play.
While not able to provide much defensively (as has been the case throughout most of his career), Anthony can still act as a fairly reliable bench scorer, and is a threat to pull up from anywhere on the court.
Last season, he averaged 15.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists on 43 per cent shooting from the field and 38.5 per cent from downtown.
