While Splash Mountain may have permanently closed at Disneyland in Los Angeles, it's set to return in a new form with the Clippers.
Free agent centre Brook Lopez has reportedly signed a two-year, $18 million deal with the Clippers, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Monday.
Lopez, a native of Los Angeles, was one of the top free-agent centres in a shallow market.
He averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.9 blocks last season and continued his late-career renaissance from long range, shooting 37.3 per cent from beyond the arc.
A two-time all-defensive team selection over his seven-year stint in Milwaukee, Lopez helped the Bucks to an NBA title in 2021 by averaging 13 a night throughout the playoffs.
According to a report from Dan Woike of The Athletic, the 37-year-old was also being pursued by the Lakers as they looked to upgrade down the middle.
Instead, he'll head to Inglewood to team up with James Harden and Kawhi Leonard on the Clippers, where he'll likely slot into a bench role behind starting big Ivica Zubac.
