Days after it was announced that Doc Rivers' tenure in Los Angeles was through, the veteran head coach will reportedly meet with the Philadelphia 76ers, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Rivers spent the past seven seasons with the L.A. Clippers, his stint with the team spanning from the Lob City days of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan to the most recent star-studded iteration featuring Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
After the Clippers fell to the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the 2020 NBA playoffs -- blowing a 3-1 series lead and eventually losing in Game 7 -- it was announced on Monday that Rivers and the team were mutually parting ways.
Joel Embiid's 76ers are currently without a head coach after the club fired Brett Brown on the heels of his team being swept out of the 2020 post-season by the Boston Celtics.
Should Rivers take the position in Philadelphia, he'd join the fourth organization of his coaching career, having thus far led the Clippers, Orlando Magic and Boston Celtics, with whom he won a title in 2008.
