Just days after the Toronto Raptors traded him, Goran Dragic is expected to negotiate a contract buyout with the San Antonio Spurs next week, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Wojnarowski reports that Dragic is emerging as the top player in the NBA’s buyout market, and is expected to draw interest from the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls and Brooklyn Nets.
The Spurs acquired Dragic along with a protected first-round pick from the Raptors in exchange for Thaddeus Young and a second-round pick before the trade deadline on Thursday. He’s making $19.44 million this season.
Dragic played in only five games for Toronto this season, and left the team for personal reasons in November. Despite averaging only 8.0 points and 1.8 assists this season, the point guard averaged over 13 points and four assists in his previous nine seasons. Wojnarowski reports that the teams pursuing him are confident he has remained in excellent shape despite the time off.
