An injured Ben Simmons is expected to make the trip to Philadelphia to watch his Brooklyn Nets square off with the 76ers on Thursday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Simmons was dealt to the Nets last month in a blockbuster deal with James Harden going the other way.

Simmons asked the 76ers in the off-season, saying he was not mentally ready to play. The three-time All-Star has not played this season.

The six-foot-11 Simmons currently is dealing with back soreness.

Sharania reports there is hope Simmons makes his Nets debut later this month.

Sportsnet ONE has the 76ers-Nets game Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT.
