An NBA champion coach is joining the Golden State Warriors' staff.
The Warriors are hiring Frank Vogel as an associate head coach under Steve Kerr, ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Sunday.
Vogel served as an assistant for the Dallas Mavericks last season, but previously served as head coach for the Pacers, Magic, Lakers and Suns.
He guided the Lakers to the title in 2019-20, with a roster featuring LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Vogel's experience with James could help lure the four-time MVP as he looks for a new team as an unrestricted free agent.
Vogel has a career 480-422 record as a head coach in the NBA.
