The NBA G League is focusing on Orlando’s Disney World campus as a bubble site for the 2021 season, according to The Athletic‘s Shams Charania.
There will be 18 teams participating in the season, and 11 that are not. The Toronto Raptors’ affiliate, Raptors 905, will be one of the teams bound for Orlando (as the parent club plays its games nearby in Tampa). The other clubs taking part are as follows:
Agua Caliente, Clippers
Austin Spurs, Spurs
Canton Charge, Cavaliers
Delaware Blue Coats, 76ers
Erie BayHawks Pelicans, Wizards
Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Pacers
Greensboro Swarm, Hornets
Iowa Wolves, Timberwolves
Lakeland Magic, Magic
Long Island Nets, Nets
Memphis Hustle, Grizzlies
Oklahoma City Blue, Thunder
Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Rockets
Salt Lake City Stars, Jazz
Santa Cruz Warriors, Warriors
Westchester Knicks, Knicks
Ignite, G League Elite team
Tip-off will reportedly take place on Feb. 8, should all things proceed smoothly, and each team is expected to play a 12-to-15 game schedule. A tentative post-season has also reportedly been set for March 5-9.
The NBA managed to hold a successful restart of its 2019-20 season in the Orlando bubble this past summer — where there were zero positive coronavirus cases after play began. The G League suspended play on March 11 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and has been dark ever since.
