The Miami Heat are reportedly exploring ways to acquire San Antonio Spurs guard and former Toronto Raptors star DeMar DeRozan, in addition to former teammate Kyle Lowry according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

DeRozan, who turns 32 on Aug. 7, is set to enter free agency Monday after completing a five-year, $139-million deal that he signed with the Raptors in 2016, before being traded to the Spurs in the 2018 Kawhi Leonard trade.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Sunday that the Heat are still targeting Lowry in free agency, and have decided to pick up the $19.4 million team option on Goran Dragic's contract as a possible precursor to a sign-and-trade deal. Stein reports that Miami is the front-runner to land the 35-year-old Lowry, despite interest from the Dallas Mavericks and the New Orleans Pelicans.

Whether the Heat would also acquire DeRozan through a sign-and-trade or directly from free agency after declining Andre Iguodala's $15-million contract for next season to free cap space remains unclear.

DeRozan, a four-time All-Star, averaged 21.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.9 assists in his third campaign with the Spurs last season.
