The Charlotte Hornets continue to add scoring threats around their young core this off-season.
Spencer Dinwiddie has agreed to a one-year contract with the team, per ESPN’s Shams Charania on Wednesday.
Dinwiddie, 32, was one of the top veteran shooting guards available on the free-agent market. He averaged 11.0 points on 49.2-percent shooting from the field and 33.4 per cent from three with the Dallas Mavericks last season.
At six foot five, the California native can play both guard positions and adds scoring punch to a Hornets team that ranked last in points per game in 2024-25.
Dinwiddie was selected in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft.
He joins an inexperienced group led by guard LaMelo Ball and forward Brandon Miller. While Dinwiddie has played in the post-season in three of the last four years, the Hornets haven't appeared in the playoffs since 2016.
Charlotte also bolstered its roster through the 2025 NBA Draft, selecting Kon Knueppel (No.4 overall), Liam McNeeley (No. 29), Sion James (No. 33) and Ryan Kalkbrenner (No. 34).
