James Harden is taking a $15 million pay cut and signing a two-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers that includes a player option, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Harden previously opted out of his $47-million play-option for this season, allowing the 76ers to sign 3-and-D wing P.J. Tucker to a three-year deal in free agency. Charania reports Harden's reason for the decision comes with the intention of going on a championship run in 2023.

The 32-year-old was acquired by Philadelphia from the Brooklyn Nets at last season's trade deadline in a blockbuster involving Ben Simmons.
