The hits keep on coming for the Utah Jazz.
Lauri Markkanen will be re-evaluated in two weeks after an MRI revealed symptomatic hip impingement with associated inflammation and a bone bruise, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Thursday.
He also suffered a twisted ankle in practice on Wednesday, but tests on that returned clean, Charania added.
The Jazz have already lost Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jusuf Nurkic for the rest of the season due to knee and nose surgeries, respectively.
Markkanen is having a career year, averaging a personal-best 26.7 points per game on 47.7 per cent shooting in 42 games. He's also putting up 6.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and a steal.
The 28-year-old posted 29 points in 32 minutes in the Jazz's loss to the Houston Rockets on Monday.
Utah sits 25th in the NBA at 18-40 and has recently been fined $500,000 for roster management purposes, specifically holding healthy players out of games.
