The Sacramento Kings appear to have thrown the towel in on this season.
Centre Domantas Sabonis is set to miss the rest of the 2025-26 campaign after undergoing successful surgery on his torn left meniscus, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Wednesday.
The news of Sabonis' injury comes after a report from earlier in the month that wing Zach LaVine would undergo season-ending surgery on his right hand.
According to Charania, Sabonis attempted to rehab the meniscus tear throughout the season and tried to play through the injury before ultimately settling on surgery.
Sabonis suffered the initial injury in November and missed two months of action, eventually returning on Jan. 16. However, he missed the Kings' last four games before the all-star break.
The 29-year-old will end his season having played a career-low 19 games while averaging 15.8 points, 11.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 29.7 minutes per game.
Over his 10-year career, Sabonis has earned three all-star nods, two all-NBA selections, and has led the league in rebounding for the past three seasons before this one.
The Kings currently have the worst record in the league at 12-44.
