The Los Angeles Lakers have asked the Toronto Raptors for permission to interview assistant coach Adrian Griffin according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Charania further reported that Griffin would join Milwaukee Bucks assistant Darvin Ham in the list of interviewees for the Lakers head coaching job.
Griffin has been an assistant on the Raptors' sidelines since 2018. He was part of Nick Nurse's coaching staff that led the Raps to their first NBA title in 2019.
This would be Griffin's first shot at an NBA head coaching endeavour. Prior to his time in Toronto, the 47-year-old former pro started his coaching career in 2008 and spent time as an assistant for the Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Orlando Magic and Oklahoma City Thunder.
