Free agent centre Marc Gasol is narrowing his focus to the Toronto Raptors and the Los Angeles Lakers, according to a report from Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The Raptors might be particularly keen on bringing back Gasol after Serge Ibaka agreed to a two-year deal with the Clippers on Saturday. Gasol averaged 8.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in parts of two seasons with the Raptors, who traded for the Spaniard in February of 2019.
Charania reported that the defending-champion Lakers are a draw for Gasol based on geographic location and their status as title contenders.
In order to create financial flexibility in hopes of making a competitive offer to Gasol, the Lakers have explored trading away Javale McGee, Marc Stein of The New York Times reported.
Stein also reported that while the Raptors are trying to keep Gasol, they also have a “strong interest” in Markieff Morris, who was part of the championship team in L.A. this fall.
