The top centre in this year’s free-agent class is on his way to Wisconsin.
The Milwaukee Bucks have signed Myles Turner to a four-year, $107-million contract, ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Tuesday.
According to Charania, the deal includes a player option in the final year of the contract in 2028-29 and a 15-per-cent trade kicker.
Turner is regarded as one of the top stretch-bigs in the NBA, capable of protecting the rim and shooting the three at a high level.
The 29-year-old averaged 15.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks last season while shooting a career-high 39.6 per cent from three-point range.
However, he struggled in the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder and averaged only 10.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks while shooting a paltry 37.7 per cent from the field and 21.4 per cent from deep as the Pacers lost in seven games.
Despite the struggles, Turner was a top name in this year’s shallow free-agent pool and was regarded as a solid option at the five for teams looking for an upgrade. He’ll now cash in with the Bucks.
In joining the Bucks, he stays within the Central Division and joins a rival squad in Milwaukee, with the chance to team up with Giannis Antetokounmpo.
However, to acquire Turner, the Bucks had to waive guard Damian Lillard and stretch the remaining $113 million on his contract, who tore his Achilles in the first-round of the playoffs against the Pacers.
