The NBA is discussing the possibility of having an in-season tournament in future seasons that would reward $1 million in prize money to each player, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Charania states the discussion was had on a Competition Committee call Monday. The idea would resemble a European-style in-season tournament to break up the regular season schedule a bit and teams the potential of winning another trophy aside from the NBA title and incentivize the players with an additional payday.

The NBA Board of Governors will also vote this month to approve the coach’s challenge being the lone method to review out-of-bounds calls with under two minutes left in games. This means that out-of-bounds plays will no longer be automatically reviewed by officials in an attempt to avoid prolonged stoppages that occur late in games.
