Galloway played 40 games for the Phoenix Suns during the 2020-21 season, averaging 4.8 points and 1.1 rebounds while shooting 2.1 three-pointers per game at 42.4 per cent.
The hardship exception rule allows for a NBA team to exceed the 15-man roster limit when at least four players are sick or injured for longer than two weeks.
The Nets lost nine-time All-Star James Harden to NBA COVID-19 protocols along with LaMarcus Aldridge, DeAndre Bembry, Jevon Carter, James Johnson and Paul Millsap. On Tuesday Brooklyn beat the Toronto Raptors despite only having eight available players.
Brooklyn (20-8) is first in the East and have won four of their last five. They host the Philadelphia 76ers (15-13) Thursday night.
