Always in need of depth down the middle, the Detroit Pistons are keeping one of their bench bigs in town.
The Pistons have re-signed centre Paul Reed to a two-year, $11 million deal, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Monday.
Reed, in his lone season with the Pistons, averaged 4.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 0.6 blocks in 45 games. He didn't make any starts and averaged 9.7 minutes a night.
Despite only sparingly getting minutes throughout the regular season, Reed became a regular over the Pistons' six-game first-round loss to the New York Knicks in the playoffs, playing 10.8 minutes a night off the bench.
Originally drafted 58th overall in the second round by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2020, Reed was claimed by the Pistons on waivers last summer. The Pistons also placed him on waivers in December, but he re-joined the team, signing a one-year deal.
