The Detroit Pistons and Kemba Walker are finalizing a contract buyout just days after the veteran point guard was acquired in a trade with the New York Knicks, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Walker, 32, will enter free agency if he clears waivers.

The four-time All-Star was traded by the Knicks in a three-team trade with the Pistons and Charlotte Hornets. The Knicks cleared cap space for their impending move on free agent Jalen Brunson with the deal, while the Pistons received No. 13 overall pick Jalen Duren and the Hornet acquired a Milwaukee Bucks first-round pick in 2025.

Walker has played for the Hornets, the Boston Celtics and most recently the Knicks, appearing in just 37 games last season averaging 11.6 points per game, the lowest of his career.

Traded from Boston to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Walker was bought out and signed by the Knicks. By becoming a free agent, he could join his fourth team since 2019 should he sign with a new team.
