The Toronto Raptors continued to add talent on the defensive end as the 2025 NBA Draft came to a close.
Toronto signed Louisville guard Chucky Hepburn to a two-way contract on Thursday night, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
Hepburn, the reigning ACC Defensive Player of the Year, led the conference with 2.4 steals per game in 2024-25, while helping the Cardinals with his scoring and facilitating ability on the offensive end.
The six-foot-two standout averaged 16.4 points, 5.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 4.8 made free throws per game for Louisville in his senior year, starting all 34 of his team's games. Hepburn shot 43.2 per cent from the floor, 32.8 per cent from three and 84.4 per cent from the free-throw line.
As part of his excellent season, Hepburn was named First Team All-ACC and to the conference's All-Defence Team. He also set a pair of Louisville records during the year, dishing out a program-best 16 assists against SMU on Jan. 21 and knocking down 17 free throws against Florida State on Feb. 22 — the most in a single game by a Cardinal in team history
Hepburn transferred to Louisville after spending three seasons in the Big Ten with Wisconsin, where he was a member of the starting five each year. With the Badgers, Hepburn made the Big Ten All-Defensive Team in 2024 and the conference All-Freshman Team in 2022.
The 22-year-old's signing comes after Toronto drafted star defenders Collin Murray-Boyles and Alijah Martin in the 2025 draft.
