The Houston Rockets have locked up one of their young stars.
Houston signed Amen Thompson to a five-year, $208-million rookie-scale contract extension, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Thursday.
The deal includes a 10 per cent trade kicker, per Charania.
Thompson, just 23, has blossomed into a star for the Rockets over his first three seasons in the league.
Last season, he led the league in minutes played while averaging career highs in points (18.3), assists (5.3) and steals (1.5) over 79 games.
He was also one of nine NBA players last season to average at least 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
Known for his positional versatility and defensive prowess, Thompson finished eighth in total steals and fourth in loose-ball recoveries last season.
The Rockets selected Thompson with the fourth-overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
