Several contending NBA teams are pursuing a trade for New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday, according to The Athletic‘s Shams Charania.
Specific teams were not mentioned, but Holiday would be a big boost to pretty much any backcourt in the league.
Holiday averaged 19.1 points, 6.7 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game in 2019-20. In addition to his offensive production, he is a difference-maker on defence, averaging 1.5 steals over his 11-year career.
The 30-year-old was an all-star in 2013 and was named to the All-Defensive First Team in 2017-18 and Second Team in 2018-19.
Holiday is slated to earn $25.4 million next season and has a $26.3-million player option for the 2021-22 campaign.
New Orleans finished a disappointing 13th in the Western Conference last season. The Pelicans fired head coach Alvin Gentry in August and replaced him with Stan Van Gundy.
