Minnesota Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns is expected to make his return from injury on Friday against the Atlanta Hawks, as reported by multiple NBA insiders.
Towns originally went down on Mar. 4 with a meniscus tear, had surgery on his left knee on Mar. 12, and then rehabbed aggressively, hoping he could return for a post-season push.
18 games later, Towns has been upgraded to questionable against Atlanta and is aiming to return at some point during the closing stretch of the regular season. The Timberwolves have been able to stay afloat without the all-star forward, going 12-6 in his absence and keeping the second seed in the West, a game behind the conference-leading Denver Nuggets.
Despite Minnesota's success without Towns, they'll surely welcome him back for the playoffs as he's averaged 22.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, and three assists this year.
