The Minnesota Timberwolves are keeping their core intact a little while longer.
Forward Jaden McDaniels has agreed to a one-year, $40 million extension with the Timberwolves to keep him in town through the 2029-30 season, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Monday.
McDaniels enjoyed a career-best season last year, averaging 14.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists.
The 26-year-old was a big part of Minnesota's eighth-ranked defence, coming third on the team in steals-plus-blocks with 2.1 per game while playing 31.7 minutes a night.
Since being drafted 28th overall in 2020, the former Washington product has averaged 11.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 439 games with the Timberwolves.
Minnesota gets its season underway Wednesday against the Miami Heat.
