The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to a five-year, $136 million rookie extension with Jaden McDaniels, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

With this contract, along with lucrative deals for Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Rudy Gobert, the Timberwolves will be in the luxury tax this season for the first time in nearly 20 years.

McDaniels is entering his fourth season in the NBA, establishing himself as a premier three-and D player. He was selected with the 28th-overall pick by Minnesota in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Last season, the 23-year-old averaged 12.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and shot 39.9 per cent from the three-point range.
