The Minnesota Timberwolves are getting their franchise player back.
Anthony Edwards has been cleared to return to the lineup against the New York Knicks on Wednesday, ESPN's Shams Charania reported prior to the game.
Edwards had missed the last four games with a hamstring strain he sustained three minutes into the Timberwolves' win over the Indiana Pacers on Oct. 26.
Coach Chris Finch said that the decision to clear Edwards to return was based on the All-Star guard looking like normal in his recent workouts.
The team announced Monday that he had been cleared for full contact activities on the court and listed him as questionable to play Wednesday before Finch said he was ready to go.
The 24-year-old guard was averaging 36 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists over the two full games he played this season and averaged 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists last season.
Edwards missed only three games in each of the last three seasons and has missed only 23 games in his six-year career, including the playoffs.
The Timberwolves went 2-2 in Edwards' absence, losing to conference opponents in the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets and beating the Charlotte Hornets and Brooklyn Nets.
Veteran Minnesota guard Mike Conley took Edwards' spot in the starting lineup over the last four games and stands to go to the bench when he returns.
