Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns will undergo surgery for a torn meniscus in his left knee and will be re-evaluated in a month, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported on Thursday..
Towns is expected to be ready to play early in the playoffs, Wojnarowski reports.
The injury comes at a tough time for the Timberwolves, who have been among the leaders in the Western Conference all season.
It's unclear when the injury occurred. The Wolves said on Wednesday that Towns was dealing with left knee soreness and that he would not play Thursday against the Pacers.
Towns, in his ninth season, was an All-Star who is averaging 22.1 points and 8.4 rebounds over 60 games.
