The Indiana Pacers are expected to waive Tristan Thompson, who will then sign a new contract with the Chicago Bulls after he clears, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
The Pacers acquired the Canadian last week as part of the Tyrese Haliburton-Domantas Sabonis deal between them and the Sacramento Kings. In three games with the Pacers, Thompson averaged 4.0 points and 4.0 rebounds. Thompson is currently in the final season of a two-year, $18.9-million contract he signed with the Boston Celtics in 2020.
Through 33 games this season, the 30-year-old is averaging 6.0 points and 5.2 rebounds playing 15.2 minutes a night.
After playing his first nine NBA seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the 2016 NBA Champion will move to his fourth team in the last two seasons should he join Chicago.
