The Golden State Warriors will seemingly not have their MVP for the final push of the regular season.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reports Stephen Curry will be out indefinitely with a sprained ligament in his left foot.
Curry was injured in late the second-quarter of Wednesday's loss to the Celtics, when he and Marcus Smart both dove for a loose ball near mid-court. Curry tried to stand after the play but was clearly unable to put weight on his left leg. He did not return to the game.
After the game, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said he thought Smart — who landed on Curry during the race for the ball — made "a dangerous play."
I thought Marcus dove into Steph’s knee,” Kerr said. “That’s what I was upset about. Lot of respect for Marcus, he’s a hell of a player, gamer, competitor. I coached him in the World Cup a few summers ago. We talked after the game, we’re good. I thought it was a dangerous play, just let him know.”
The Warriors are currently third in the Western Conference with a 47-23 record and have 12 games remaining in the season.
