The Golden State Warriors are optimistic shooting guard Klay Thompson will make his season debut on Sunday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
The Jan. 9 return date was among the three that the Warriors and Thompson were initially targeting.
Thompson suffered a right achilles tear during a workout in November of last year. He has not been on the court in NBA action since the Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors when he tore his ACL.
The Warriors (28-7) currently sit atop the Western Conference.
