Free-agent centre Willie Cauley-Stein has agreed to a two-year, $8.2 million deal to return to the Dallas Mavericks, according to The Athletic‘s Shams Charania.
There is a team option for the second season, per Charania.
After reportedly failing to court Toronto Raptors free-agent big man Marc Gasol, the Mavericks moved on to re-sign Cauley-Stein, who was traded to the team from the Golden State Warriors last season.
Cauley-Stein provides serviceable depth at the five spot behind Kirstaps Porzingis and Boban Marjanovic, and is always, at the least, a significant lob threat when paired with all-seeing playmaker Luka Doncic.
