Three-time All-Star Khris Middleton won't be testing the waters of free agency.
The Washington Wizards forward chose to accept his $33.3 million player option, keeping him under contract in the American capital for the 2025-26 season, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Monday.
Middleton was dealt to the Wizards at this past season's trade deadline in a four-team swap that saw Kyle Kuzma head to the Milwaukee Bucks.
He struggled to produce in his short stint with the side, averaging 10.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists, and only suiting up in 14 sporadic starts before being shut down for the season in late March with a knee injury.
Overall, the 33-year-old only played 37 games this past season between the Bucks and Wizards after undergoing double ankle surgery last off-season. He averaged 11.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists while shooting 47.5 per cent from the field and 36.1 per cent from three-point range.
The Charleston, S.C. native won his lone NBA title with the Bucks in 2021 and spent 12 years in Wisconsin. He was originally drafted by the Detroit Pistons 39th overall in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft.
