Washington Wizards players had to separate guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and centre Montrezl Harrell after a physical altercation at halftime of a game on Tuesday night, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports.
According to Charania’s sources, Harrell wasn’t happy with Caldwell-Hope for not passing to him on one play in the first half against the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder, leading to words being exchanged as they headed to the locker room. Then, they failed to connect while throwing punches at each other before their teammates broke up the fight.
Both returned for the second half with Caldwell-Pope finishing with 16 points and Harrell notching 12 in a 122-118 win.
Caldwell-Pope and Harrell were teammates last year on the Los Angeles Lakers before they were acquired by the Wizards in the Russell Westbrook off-season deal.
Harrell also made headlines before the game as he returned from health and safety protocols while wearing a light-up mask saying ‘I’m back.”
