The San Antonio Spurs got some good news about Victor Wembanyama, but his status for the final three games of the season remains up in the air.
The superstar centre had an MRI for a rib injury on Tuesday but the results came back clean, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.
The Spurs have listed Wembanyama as doubtful for Wednesday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Wembanyama suffered the injury in Monday's win over the Philadelphia 76ers when he was elbowed by Paul George in the second quarter. He didn't return to the game for the second half.
The 22-year-old is averaging 24.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 3.1 blocks this season.
The Spurs have three games remaining on the schedule and Wembanyama needs to appear in two more to be eligible for end of season awards, including MVP, Defensive Player of the Year and All-NBA. Winning one of those awards would help make Wembanyama eligible for a supermax contract later in his career.
