The Phoenix Suns star centre DeAndre Ayton will be out 'at least' a week after suffering an ankle sprain, the team announced.
Ayton was injured in the first quarter of the Suns' eventual win against the New Orleans Pelicans and didn't return.
Ayton signed a max contract offer sheet with the Indiana Pacers this off-season that the Suns matched. The centre's relationship with head coach Monty Williams' relationship was widely speculated upon after Williams failed to utilize Ayton in last year's playoffs. The two reportedly didn't speak over the entire off-season.
The 24-year-old averaged 15.4 points, 2.0 assists, and 8.2 rebounds in the Suns' first 5 contests.
