Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's bid for MVP won't include a late-season contest against the best team in the NBA.
The Oklahoma City Thunder star is listed as out for Wednesday's tip against the Boston Celtics because of a quad contusion.
It marks the second game in a row Gilgeous-Alexander will miss and the third in the team's past four outings.
The Hamilton product is third in NBA scoring, averaging 30.3 points per game.
The Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets all are tied for top spot in the Western Conference.
Gilgeous-Alexander is expected to be the leader for Canada at the 2024 Olympics in Paris after he led the country to bronze at last year's World Cup.
