Trent Jr., Hood cleared to play for Raptors vs. Suns on Friday

Recent Toronto Raptors acquisition Gary Trent Jr. talks how valuable playing for an organization known for player development will be for him after getting traded to the team in a deal that saw Norman Powell head to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Newly-acquired Gary Trent Jr. and Rodney Hood have been given the all-clear to play for the Toronto Raptors when they face the Phoenix Suns on Friday.

Trent Jr., and Hood were acquired by the Raptors in exchange for Norman Powell, who was sent to the Portland Trail Blazers ahead of Thursday's NBA trade deadline.

Trent Jr., will wear No. 33 in honour of his dad, who also wore the number for the Raptors in 1998. The 22-year-old has appeared in 41 games (23 starts) for the Blazers this season, averaging 15 points. He is scheduled to hit restricted free agency this summer.

Hood will don No. 32 on the court. He has struggled in 2020-21, averaging just 4.7 points per game — well below his career mark of 11.7.
