The best shooter in the draft is on his way to Washington.
The Washington Wizards selected sharpshooting Texas wing Tre Johnson sixth overall at the 2025 NBA Draft in Brooklyn on Wednesday night.
Johnson enjoyed a standout freshman year with the Longhorns last season, averaging an SEC-leading 19.9 points on 42.7 per cent from the field and 39.7 per cent from three-point range. He added 3.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 0.9 steals per game on 34.7 minutes a night.
The six-foot-six wing was named the SEC Rookie of the Year and earned a spot on the All-SEC second team.
Despite putting up a strong individual season, the Longhorns finished 19-16, good for 13th in a crowded SEC. They were unable to qualify for the national tournament after being eliminated in the First Four by Xavier.
