Boston Celtics star guard Jaylen Brown underwent successful scapholunate reconstruction surgery on Wednesday and is expected to return to the court in approximately three months, the team announced Thursday.
The Celtics announced Monday that Brown would be out for the season after being diagnosed with a torn scapholunate ligament in his left wrist last weekend.
Brown has not played for the Celtics since May 2 as he was also caring for an ankle injury.
Boston is currently the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference with a 35-35 record, 2.5 games back of the New York Knicks for the coveted No. 6 seed. The Celtics have gone 1-4 without Brown out.
The 24-year-old is averaging a career-high 24.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game this season, shooting 48.4 per cent from the field.
