Danny Green’s 2019 championship ring ceremony postponed again

Danny Green is in COVID-19 protocols with the 76ers, and will now miss his Tuesday return to Toronto, where he was supposed to receive his 2019 Championship Ring, but he's prepared to wait even longer, and celebrate it the right way.

It looks like Danny Green will have to wait a little longer to receive his 2019 championship ring.

Green was scheduled to receive his ring in front of a capacity crowd at Scotiabank Arena next Tuesday when his Philadelphia 76ers visit the Toronto Raptors.

However, with rising COVID-19 cases leading to team-wide outbreaks, postponements and reduced capacity in Toronto – as well as nationwide – those plans have been shelved again. Add in the fact that Green himself entered health and safety protocols Wednesday and everyone will just need to wait a little longer to celebrate his role on the 2019 team.

“Obviously this new variant came along, Canada has kinda shut things back down a little bit, 50 per cent capacity in the arena … A lot of people that wanted to be there, to support, aren’t going to be able to go,” Green said on his podcast, Inside The Green Room.

He added that with fewer fans being able to attend, him and the team felt it best to postpone the ceremony.

The 76ers return to Toronto on April 7. Provided Green remains with the team until then, that could be pegged as the date for the long-anticipated celebration.
