Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has entered the NBA’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols, the team announced Wednesday.

Morant has missed the Grizzlies’ previous five games with an ankle sprain. Memphis has won all five of those contests wire-to-wire without their third-year standout point guard.

Morant’s return to the lineup may not be affected by simply being placed in the health and safety protocols, it would be dependant on a positive COVID-19 test. If Morant has tested positive, he’ll need to isolate for up to 10 days or register multiple negative tests to be able to return to the team.

The former Rookie of the Year is fully vaccinated and has received a booster shot, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Grizzlies play the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night as they look to extend their win streak to six games.
