How Hungry Are You?: Bucks’ Jrue Holiday talks family, defence and playing with Giannis

In episode 5 of How Hungry Are You? Bucks guard Jrue Holiday stops by Mafuzzy Chef Serge Ibaka's kitchen, to explain why he and his brothers could beat the Antetokounmpo's 3-on-3, who his top 5 NBA defenders are, and to eat ovary orange chicken.

Milwaukee Bucks all-star point guard Jrue Holiday was very honest when asked who would win between himself and his brothers against the Antetokounmpo brothers in a three-on-three matchup.

“The Holidays,” he said confidently on “How Hungry Are You?” presented by Samsung Bespoke and hosted by Serge Ibaka.

As the two teammates start their meal with some food native to western Africa, Holiday dives into his personal life before any basketball talk. The 32-year-old discusses how being in a mixed-race marriage really opened his wife’s eyes to how life can be very different for African Americans. He recalls an incident with a police officer, and Ibaka empathizes with Holiday about how unfortunate some encounters are.

As the pair get to talking basketball, Ibaka quickly asks Holiday if he thinks he is the best defensive player in the NBA and then asks him to rank his top five defensive players today. Holiday slots a teammate in there with himself but omits a notable candidate from the top five: Raptors star O.G. Annunoby. He does give Annunoby plenty of praise, though, and anoints him the sixth man of the all-defensive team.

Ibaka once again pits Giannis Antetokounmpo against Holiday by asking who would win between an all-international starting five from the NBA or a team of players born in the United States? In an earlier episode, Antetokounmpo had named the lineups and claimed the international squad would win, but Holiday changes the lineups and stays loyal to his home country.

All this comes before Ibaka launches into his famous “spicy questions,” where Holiday must drink tea consisting of crickets if he fails to answer any of Ibaka’s questions.

Holiday was asked to pick between trusting a late game Antetokounmpo free throw or a Brook Lopez three-pointer, questioned about who the worst athlete in his family is and who of the past five defensive player of the year winners did not deserve the award.

As with each guest, Ibaka asks who the most famous person is in their contact list and makes the guest call that individual. In this circumstance, the guest picks up on the second call and has some choice words for Ibaka about the cricket tea.

Finally, the pair finish their meal with a favourite of Holiday, orange chicken. In his “artist” fashion, Ibaka uses chicken ovaries instead, and Holiday is reluctant to touch the dish, asking Ibaka multiple times, “what did you do to it?”

Catch Holiday’s reaction to the dish and all his answers on “How Hungry Are You?” The episode will air on Dec. 12 on SN NOW, Sportsnet’s and Ibaka’s YouTube channels, and Sportsnet TV.
