Raptors’ Fred VanVleet out vs. Wizards, Malachi Flynn to start

Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet will be unavailable to play on Monday night against the Washington Wizards due to a hip flexor injury, and Malachi Flynn will start instead, as reported by Sportsnet’s Michael Grange. Kyle Lowry also remains out with a foot infection.

VanVleet has averaged 19.8 points and 6.1 assists through 44 games this season, starting all of those contests, including three back-to-back 20-plus point games at the end of March.

Flynn, drafted 29th overall in 2020 by the Raptors, had the best game of his rookie career when he scored 16 points as well as tallying five assists and five rebounds in a career-high 30 minutes on Friday against the Golden State Warriors.
