The Toronto Raptors will play pre-season games in Edmonton and Montreal in October 2022 as part of the eighth NBA Canada Series, the league announced Wednesday, marking the first time the series will be held since 2019.
First, the Raptors will face the Utah Jazz at Rogers Place in Edmonton on Oct. 2. The game will be the first NBA game ever played at Rogers Place.
Then, on Oct. 14, the Raptors will face the Boston Celtics at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The city is no stranger to hosting NBA games, having hosted six games since 2012. The upcoming tilt this fall will be the Celtics’ second time competing in the NBA Canada Series.
The Canada-hosted showcase is celebrating its 10th anniversary this season, with the first game taking place back in 2012 between the Raptors and New York Knicks in Montreal. In total, 14 NBA teams have participated in 14 pre-season games across five provinces, drawing a total attendance of more than a quarter of a million Canadians.
The Raptors will run their training camp in Victoria, B.C. from Sept. 26-Oct. 1.
In addition to the games in Montreal and Edmonton, which bookend Toronto’s exhibition schedule, the Raptors will play three other pre-season games in North America:
• Oct. 5 against the Celtics in Boston
• Oct. 7 against the Rockets in Houston
• Oct. 9 against the Bulls in Toronto
