Free-agent guard Elfrid Payton has agreed to a one-year, $5 million deal with the New York Knicks, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

A roster loaded with forwards and big men, bringing Payton back on a cheap one-year deal provides some depth at a position of need for the Knicks.

New York remains on the hunt for some of the more coveted remaining free-agent names, as they’re one of the last clubs with significant cap space.

Payton averaged 10 points, 4.7 rebounds and 7.2 assists through 45 games in 2019-20.
